My Closing Statement.
As we approach the end of another campaign...
Ladies and Gentlemen this is my closing statement:
Are issues of crime and drug addiction better than they where 4 years ago?
We have seen the daily reports of arrests and the plight many of our young people whose lives are wrapped up in a life of drugs and crime.
Forty percent of Hoosiers have spent time in jail. What we really need is a revival of the spirit and a respect for the law.
I am Gregory W. LeMaster, a long time criminal defense attorney, educated at Jay County High, Ball State, and IU school of law -Indianapolis. I am a candidate to be your Jay County Prosecutor.
Drugs and crime are tough subjects, the enemy is at our gates. This enemy requires someone willing to tackle it with all their creativity, knowledge, abilities, and above all an open door to listen. I will close my practice and serve the people full time every day using all the tools that a prosecutor and the courts have to make this a better place in which to live.
This add was paid for largely by me through my candidates committee, I ask for your vote.
On saving tax payers money by going part time....
Jay counties portion of prosecutor expenses have gone up every fiscal year since the prosecutor went part time.
In 2011 the Prosecutor was full time all year. The office Cost to Jay County was $181,066.71.
In 2012 the Prosecutor went part time around mid year. The office cost to Jay County was $192,216.72.
In 2013 the office cost to Jay County was $196,988.18.
Meanwhile Jay County Tax payers pay about the 5th to 6th highest income tax rate in the state.
Our busiest criminal court has problems setting hearings and has a back log of cases with more times when no prosecutor is available. We have 3 prosecutors and only 2 courts open at any one time.
Increasing numbers of case/client conflicts requiring special prosecutors. The cost for special prosecutors has gone up since the prosecutor went part time. Prior years would indicate this will only become more and more of an issue.
The elected prosecutors salary is paid by the State. It is in fact a net loss of taxpayer funds coming back to Jay County from Indianapolis.
I will be a full time prosecutor putting all of my talents and abilities into the job of prosecutor and at the same time working to hold the line on expenses.
The numbers where acquired from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, treasurer and the Jay County Auditor.
Paid for by LeMaster for Prosecutor 2014.
Just getting started on the campaign again. We came out of the Primary with 1,948 votes and will be facing the Democratic Incumbent in the fall.
I last ran in 2010. Much has changed. I have more children of my own and have became a grandpa. Check back for updates, calendars, and pictures. I look forward to getting back out there and meeting many of you again and I look forward to being focused solely on the job of Jay County Prosecutor. The Citizens of Jay County deserve no less.
Thank you for your vote. And I ask for your vote in November.
As a side note folks we are not accepting campaign donations except from the party. I want justice to be blind. If you want to donate do it through the party. We plan on funding the campaign by my contributions made by me, the candidate. If you want to help...just get your friends and family out to vote for us. Or we will have t-shirts if you want to help on parade days.

Here is what is going out in our election materials. I plan on personally
walking this info to as many doors as I can.
GREGORY W. LEMASTER
FOR
JAY COUNTY PROSECUTOR
I have served as a long time Public Defender and Defense Attorney in Jay County
and the surrounding area. I would bring this experience to the office of Prosecutor
to better serve the citizens of Jay County and the State of Indiana. With the yearly
updates to the law and the newly enacted criminal code the prosecutor will face
challenges not seen in a generation. I will serve as a full time prosecutor and
relinquish my private practice. I believe this will provide better representation, less
congestion in the courts, and cost savings to the tax payers. I will dedicate my
practice of law solely to the vigorous representation of the State and victims of
crime in our courts.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Before being admitted to the practice of law I worked as a manager for a national
retail chain. I then took employment with a national real estate title underwriter
while attending law school.
My practice of law began in 2002. Working at that time predominantly in the real
estate title Industry. I was named Vice President for a statewide title insurance
agency by the age of 30. My law firm began the transition to criminal defense.
Currently having over a decade of experience in criminal defense from major
felonies to misdemeanors. Criminal law comprises 90% of my law practice.
I am a member of the Jay County and State of Indiana Bar Associations as well as
the Indiana Public Defender Council.
EDUCATION
I am a 1990 graduate of Jay County High School where I lettered in wrestling and
earned academic honors in Social Studies. From there I attended Ball State
University receiving a B.S. in Political Science with a minor in History. I received a
Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law (Indianapolis).
PERSONAL
I am 42 and Married to Codi M. LeMaster (Ashcraft). I have six children Blake,
Victoria, Audrey, Charlotte (Charlie), and Jonathan (Jack). Benjamin is due in
September. I am Grandpa to Alaina the daughter of my son Blake and his wife
Alysia. My parents are Terry and Gisela LeMaster. I am an active member of the
Southside Church of Christ and Portland Evening Optimist.
“I ask for the honor of your vote on November 4th.” Gregory W. LeMaster.
